While no sport quite matches bowling when it comes to pure fun and enjoyment, auto racing is a close second. The spectacle of a high-stakes championship NASCAR race is one of the sporting world's most pulse-quickening events.
On Nov. 15, racing fans will witness one of the year's most anticipated competitions -- the Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500 at Phoenix International Speedway. This race promises some added excitement, as eight drivers are competing to qualify for four spots in a winner-take-all, season-ending championship race Nov. 22 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
GoBowling.com is proud to be part of all the adrenaline-pumping action by sponsoring the no. 9 car, driven by Sam Hornish Jr.
Hornish Jr. is something of a racing prodigy. He began his career at the tender age of 11 as a go-kart racer, ultimately winning a national championship in the sport while still in high school.
That success carried over into his auto racing career. Hornish Jr. has three wins and 57 top ten finishes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and 12 top ten finishes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He's also a former IndyCar champion.
Hornish Jr., a Defiance, Ohio native, races for Richard Petty Motorsports, which is co-owned by seven-time NASCAR champion Richard Petty.
Hornish Jr. will have some stiff competition in this year's race, namely in the form of NASCAR star Kevin Harvick. Harvick has been extraordinarily successful at the Race for Heroes -- he's a four-time champion, including wins in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
This year's Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500 sold out nearly a month before the race begins, but fans can watch the proceedings on NBC beginning at 2:30 EST.
At GoBowling.com we're proud to sponsor Sam Hornish Jr. -- and we encourage every bowling fan out there to cheer for him on Nov. 15.
